The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports- The Kentucky Derby with Susan Carlisle

A few years ago, I attended the Kentucky Derby which happens on the first weekend in May in Louisville, Kentucky.

This is an event that I recommend you plan ahead for. I would even consider a package deal because it is less stressful than driving and parking.

Hundreds of thousands of people pour into the area just for a weekend of horseracing. Friday is the Oaks Race. This is when the three-year-old fillies take the course. The winner of the Kentucky Oaks Race gets a blanket of pink carnations that is placed over the horse’s back. Many of the crowd wear pink that day in support of the young female horses.

On Saturday the Kentucky Derby is run. The Derby Race is the tenth of the eleven races of the day. Red roses are what the blanket is made of for the winner of this race. The race is often called the “Run for the Roses.”

On this day women wear their finest dresses, and each has a hat to match. Some are out of this world beautiful while others are funny. It’s a show just to people watch.

I love everything about the Kentucky Derby Races. There’s nothing like the excitement that builds in you when the announcer says, “And they’re off!”

Falling for the Trauma Doc (Kentucky Derby Medics Book 1)

It’s off to the races with Susan Carlisle’s latest Harlequin Medical Romance as a physician’s assistant and trauma doc treat patients at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby…while trying to resist each other!
THE MAN SHE SHOULDN’T FALL FOR!

Callee needs to move on from a huge loss, and the way to do that is to armor plate her heart. So when trauma doc Langston arrives at her clinic to temporarily conduct research, she knows she’s in trouble. Not only is he helpful with patients, but their chemistry is electric! Is Langston the guy to take a leap with, when he isn’t planning to stick around?

  4. So, the Kentucky Derby is about to take place this year, as it's almost May. It sounds rather like Royal Ascot, with women wearing extraordinary confections on their heads. - great fun.
