Not that long ago I wrote a series of cozy mysteries that took on a paranormal aspect. I decided that my heroine, Daisy was a florist, who throughout the story learned the power of plants and how they can be used in medicine and witchcraft.

This wasn’t hard for me to understand as through my husband’s health journey, I’ve learned so much about the impact plants can have to repair the body, so I set about my research. It was so much fun, reading magazines filled with luscious garden, the beauty of the flowers luring me to turn the page, wanting more and more. I read how to create these gardens and in my mind I envisioned acres filled with chickens, duck ponds and laneways that led me on an adventure that soothed my soul with visual beauty, perfume and the feeling of peace.

Because that’s what a good garden does, right? It leaves you feeling peaceful, rested and at one with nature.

It’s a place when the world is hard you can go and sit quietly with a good cuppa and block out all the bad, only resurfacing once your energy is refreshed.

I love it! I mean, seriously love it! Well, I would love it if I could snap my fingers and have my own garden even minutely resembling what I see in my mind. The truth though? That’s a very different story. You see I don’t have a green thumb. I can just keep a house plant alive if it’s lucky and by sheer accident I found it the perfect spot for light and heat, but that’s the extent of what I can achieve. The reality is my landscaping is half started. The garden beds are full of weeds as I don’t have the time to fix it, and the plants that are there better be hardy as the only time I remember to water them is when nature does the job for me.
Of course if I ever win the lotto this will be one of the first things I change. I know with the right amount of money I can hire a gardener that will love tending to my fledglings, creating a space for me to sit quietly, enjoy the breeze on my cheeks and fill me with renewed sense of hope. But until then, I’ll just have to enjoy getting lost in the pages of those magazines, and appreciate every moment those creators have lovingly spent tending those gardens.

I write funny, romantic mysteries (aka cosy mysteries), paranormal cosy mysteries, and the odd rom com because two of my favourite things are romance and mystery.
When I’m not writing you can find me lost in a good book, passively watching documentaries (my hubby loves them and seems to have gained full control of the remote) or scrolling Instagram dreaming of perfect hair.
Oh, and I do love a good chat so feel free to reach out to me anytime! I can’t wait to meet you all!

In High Spirits: A Ghost Cozy Mystery (A Dandelion Ponds Mystery Book 1)
What do you do when you wake up dead?
Daisy Montgomery was living her best life until she was attacked by a force so powerful that it separated her body from her soul. Now neither living nor dead, her spirit form lacks ghostly abilities like walking through walls, and she can’t communicate with anyone. Except one.
Luckily her connection to her little dog, Alfie, led her to super sexy Charlie O’Sullivan, a man who can not only see her spirit and open doors for her but someone who makes her question everything she thought she knew about her life, love, and almost death.
The more she, Charlie, and his merry band of spirit helpers uncover, the longer her suspect list grows. But when someone else she knows dies, Daisy must use her newfound knowledge to discover who the killer is before they strike again. If she can’t, not only are her loved ones at risk but the killer could come back to finish the job they started the night of her attack. And Daisy’s not ready to rest in peace.
